Storyline
The movie is about Lily Bloom, who always wanted to become a florist, and she ends up becoming one. She meets Ryle Kincaid, a neurosurgeon, and they instantly connect after sharing their “naked truths.” Ryle goes crazy about Lily and proposes to her on the same day his sister, Allysa, has a baby. They get married, and everything seems perfect at first.
But things start getting dark when Ryle hits Lily hard on her forehead for the first time before their marriage. He calls it an accident, saying he mistakenly threw a hot pan at her. Even after this, Lily agrees to marry him. After marriage, more incidents follow. Ryle pushes Lily off the stairs and keeps asking her about her past love, Atlas Corrigan, every time he loses control.
Talking about Atlas, he was Lily’s first love. When they fell in love, Atlas was homeless, and they shared a beautiful bond. Their love ended when Lily’s dad found out and beat Atlas almost to death. Years later, Lily meets Atlas again in Boston. Now, Atlas owns a restaurant named Root and is still deeply in love with Lily.
Things with Ryle go out of hand when he literally bites Lily on the tattoo she got, which symbolised her love with Atlas. Ryle goes crazy, and Lily decides to leave him. She moves out and goes to Atlas. Together, they go to the hospital, where Lily finds out she is pregnant. She decides to keep the baby and talks to Allysa, who, being the best friend ever, tells Lily to divorce Ryle right away. Eventually, Lily and Ryle get divorced.
In the end, Lily holds her baby and says, “It ends with us.” But does it? Does Lily finally end up with Atlas? You need to watch the movie to find out!
Review
The movie is a good one-time watch! I found myself really mad at Ryle for everything he did to Lily—that’s how well Justin Baldoni acted his role. I was so proud of Lily for finding the courage to leave Ryle and start fresh, free from all the toxicity.
Allysa was my favourite character. She was such a great friend to Lily and an amazing person overall. Brandon Sklenar nailed Atlas’s role—I loved his loyalty and how deeply he cared for Lily.
That said, I did feel a bit disconnected in the middle. It seemed like Lily’s love for Ryle was never genuine; it was more about lust than real emotion. If their bond had been deeper at the start, the story might have felt more intense. Still, the connection between Lily and Atlas was truly beautiful and heartfelt.
Also I love love the music, especially taylor swift’s my tears ricochet. It goes so well with the story. And one by ethel cain called strangers was hell beautiful too.
